Every great pantomime has a hero, and so does our community. Horwood House and Aylesbury Waterside Theatre have joined forces to put a real-life local hero in the spotlight – and we need your help to find them.
Who is your local hero?
We’re inviting nominations for someone aged 18 or over who lives, works or volunteers in Buckinghamshire or Milton Keynes.
Your Local Hero could be a dedicated volunteer, a caring neighbour, an unpaid carer or simply someone who has quietly supported others when they needed it most. What matters is the difference they’ve made and why you believe their kindness and compassion deserve recognition.
The prize
The winning Local Hero will receive two special thank-you experiences:
- An overnight stay for two at Horwood House
- A family ticket for four to see Sleeping Beauty at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, on any January performance
The overnight stay and pantomime tickets can be redeemed separately, so the winner can choose dates that work for them and for both venues. All bookings are subject to availability and the final prize arrangements.

Complete the form below and tell us what your nominee has done, who they’ve helped and why their contribution deserves to be recognised. Specific examples will help the judging panel understand the difference they’ve made.
Please make sure your nominee is happy to be nominated before sharing their name or story. Avoid including private medical or personal information unless they’ve agreed to you providing it.
Entries open on Monday 28 September and close on Friday 30 October 2026 at 23:59. The selected winner will be contacted in early November, with the public announcement expected during the week commencing Monday 9 November.
